Getting Started in Paganism, Witchcraft, and Magick

This recommended pagan book list provides information about herbs, candles, crystals, moon spells, astrology, meditation, the elements, and more. Getting Started in Paganism, Witchcraft, and Magick can be simple and personally fulfilling, once you get started reading a few good books! And the best part, you can always go back and reference them when you need a refresher.

What is Paganism, Witchcraft, and Magick?

  • Paganism is a polytheistic or pantheistic nature-worshipping form of spirituality. Many pagans believe the earth is sacred and choose to live a lifestyle where mother nature is celebrated, honored, and protected. If you're looking for a way to deepen your connection to Spirit and mother earth, Paganism may be the right path for you.
  • Witchcraft is the art of crafting Magick with tools through meditation and trance, herbal preparations, crystals, divination, journaling, art, gardening, etc. The art of witchcraft is viewed by many as an expression of one's spirituality.
  • Magick is directing energy through the conscious power of will. Setting intentions with purpose is a way of guiding the energies around us to experience change. The more we focus on these subtle energies in our daily lives, the more we are able to experience them.

I love the inner temple of witchcraft!! I will check these out for sure!! Even after practicing for a while it’s good to be refreshed and go back to the basics 🔮

  • Sonya Miller

I need to try to get and read some of these books.

  • Patrilatxa

I started with the book Earth Power by Scott Cunningham.

  • Tredarrup Whitlock

My very first book on the Craft was ‘Hocus Pocus’ by Titania Hardie, back in 1997 when I decided to diversify from tarot, astrology etc. The first spell I did was ‘Hot wax’ and it worked a treat. This book really got me going and put me on the path to being the seasoned old eclectic witch I am today. Some of my books overlap with yours, so I guess our paths are similar. Have a happy life!

Great list! I would also add “Mastering Witchcraft” by Paul Huson. It’s a classic, important book. Blessed be!
